| Historical Record | Spiritos 22/05/03 |
I've decided (as with a couple of other MKC sites I've designed), to leave this one online as a record of MKC's achievements within the Counter-Strike arena.
MKC played a few seasons in the Savage CS League with a few successful matches, but on the whole, CS was a side-game for MKC and the CS squad played for fun. However, as with most games, the squad began to lose members until we could no longer field a full-strength team for league matches. This was not really fair on those who turned up to play (including the opposition) and so the decision was taken to bow out gracefully at the end of the season rather than withdraw in the middle of the season and cause the Savage admins some problems. I'm glad to report that we made it through that season and did indeed leave the Savage Counter-Strike league gracefully.
If I can find the time, I may well put some of the match reports and demos up from our time in the Savage league. However, right now you can find some of our CS information over on one of the old MKC sites. For the moment, I've updated the links on the site to currently active sites.
| Still here... and Redirection Part 2 | Spiritos 07/05/02 |
MKC is still playing Counter-Strike and in fact, we're about to start our 2nd season in the Savage CS League next Monday (13th May).
Remember this is still a 'side-line' website and if you're reading this, you really should head over to the main MKC site for all MKC info (including RA3, CPMA and Capture-Strike coverage). This is a new website compared to the one listed below (hence the title "Redirection Part 2"), so time to update your bookmark!
Also, you should keep an eye out on www.clanmkc.co.uk as our brand-spanking new website is scheduled to go live in the very near future...
| Redirection | Spiritos 05/06/01 |
Caldazar has finally got the combined MKC Counter-Strike and Rocket Arena 3 clan website up-and-running. All MKC info will be posted on that website - this one is being left on the back-burner for the time-being. Please head over to the new combined MKC site for all MKC's news.
(That enough p1mp4g3 for you Cal? ;) ).
| Give Us Friendlies!! | Spiritos 12/05/01 |
Yes, MKC is still here and we're still playing Counter-Strike. However most of the time when we're playing as a clan we are playing internal clan practices. We WANT some more CS friendlies, so if you're looking for a clan to have a game with, contact Caldazar to set it up. Go on, you know you want to! >;)
| Website Activity... | Spiritos 24/04/01 |
...or lack of it to be precise. I made the decision to go Inactive a couple of weeks ago because RL essentially reduced my online time to practically nil. As a result of that, the CS Brigade is now in the capable hands of Caldazar, Ruven and Toadkilla. If you want any info on the CS part of MKC, then talk to them first.
As for this webby, I'll update it when I can but right now MKC is practising and playing the occasional friendly - we are not currently competing in any leagues which makes MKC-related CS news a little thin on the ground TBH.
Although I'm Inactive, I do still manage to check my email and some webbies, so I haven't completely 'vanished' - if you want to email me, then go ahead :)
| Friendly with Alpha | Spiritos 09/04/01 |
We had our first ever CS friendly with AlphaClan this past Thursday. A number of 7v7 games took place on maps such as de_dust and de_vertigo and they seemed quite competitive for the most part. I think both clans had some enjoyment from playing in this friendly and it may be something we'll look at doing again with Alpha in the very near future.
| NetGames UK League Opens | Spiritos 02/04/01 |
Yet another CS league opens its doors and yet another flood of clans hits it. Its 32-clan limit has already been oversubscribed by a factor of 2, and the admins are now looking for about 30 clans to voluntarily drop themselves from the league to leave them with the intended 32! (that's a novel approach I have to say, but not one I can see working). (I've added a link to this league over on the right in case anyone wants to keep an eye on it).
| BarrysWorld League Opens Signups - Part 2 | Spiritos 27/03/01 |
Let's see - about 24 hours have passed since the signup page went live and there are 12 clans already placed in groups with over 60 placed in pending status! Talk about popular eh? :) (No wonder the Bazzas site is down ;) ).
Oh and I've submitted our application to the league as was the majority decision (you fools!! >;) ).
| /me gets a mention on Bazzas |
Okay, so it isn't on the actual webby, but this
is the best you're gonna get as far as we're concerned for CS atm >;)
(Thanks Stazbumpa - see you on a server soon m8 :) ).
| BarrysWorld League Opens Signups | Spiritos 26/03/01 |
BarrysWorld has finally managed to resurrect its CS league and signups are now being taken. Grimbler is the man in charge this time round and the Rules are worth a read if you want to know how things will work this season.
Whether MKC enters this league or not is up to the CS players to say-so...
| Map Fix | Spiritos 25/03/01 |
Seems there's a problem with de_vegas under CSv1.1. If you've already upgraded to CSv1.1 (which most of you have already, haven't you? ;) ), then you can just download the corrected version. If you've yet to upgrade from v1.0 (not likely), then you can get the 'fixed' v1.0 --> v1.1 installer here.
| Training Continues... | Spiritos 23/03/01 |
We had our second practice session last night (all 2½ hours of it!), and we managed a fair number of 5v5 games. There were some problems with connecting to the server and configs not being optimised but that's part of the point of playing these internal practices: to get these things sorted out (oh, and having some fun shooting at each other as well >;) ).

| More Tweakage |
Hey, you should all know by now that I like my 'tweakage fix' every now-and-then :) Well check out 3DSpotlight's HL/CS/TFC Tweak Guide. There's some very useful info in there that may just help you sort out that problem that's been irritating you for a while...
| Savage and WirePlay Leagues about to start |
The Savage CS league kicks-off its 3-division, 7-week season this coming Monday. Interestingly, they have added 2 of the new maps to their rotation, namely de_inferno and de_dust2. 4K, who won the Savage CS Cup a couple of weeks ago will not be competing in the league; rumour has it they have pulled out to play in more "professional" games.
Also kicking off on the Monday evening is the WirePlay CS League. The WP admins have taken things a little further than even Savage and have included 4 of the 5 new maps (de_vertigo being the only new map that didn't make it in).
| Site Goes Live! | Spiritos 18/03/01 |
Well, here it is, wasn't even sure if I was going to do this because I didn't know how serious MKC was at playing Counter-Strike. It's here now and I think we have the nucleus of a CS team :)
If there's something you'd like to see on the site let me know and I'll see what I can manage. Otherwise, have a look round at the latest of MKC's game-specific websites!
(Oh and apologies to the Netscape users out there [all 1 of you, Kaa >;) ], but this site doesn't appear as well through NS as IE and it takes too much time to create and update an NS-specific version :/ At least you can still read it though!).
| Training Underway & an MKC ol' timer returns | Spiritos 16/03/01 |
The Brigade had its first training session last night. This was the very first time that the players had gathered on the same server at the same time. Due to the release of the CS v1.1 (link is for v1.0 --> v1.1 MOD) and HL v1.1.0.6 (link is for upgrading from v1.1.0.4) patches just before the session however, some of the players didn't manage to get the files in time to join-up so we didn't see Dom (ADSL down), JinjaNinja or Rob (couldn't get the patches in time) :( Hopefully we'll get everyone involved in the game next week.
Balancing that disappointment was the unexpected, but very welcome return of ol' 'Mad-Mikey' himself, Ruven, who has been spending his 'sabbatical' away from MKC actually shooting CT's and Terrorists on many a Counter-Strike server (so, a good time to come back :) ).
| CS v1.1 |
As mentioned above, version 1.1 of Counter-Strike was released this week. Running at about the 19.5Mb mark, it includes 5 new maps: de_inferno, de_rotterdam, de_vertigo, cs_thunder and a sequel to the (in)famous dust map, aptly named de_dust2. I expect it will be a little time before we see how well (or badly) these maps play although I see that dust2 has already gathered some detractors (the same ones that bemoan every new CS patch that comes out IMO ;) ).
| MKC Forms Counter-Strike Brigade | Spiritos 09/03/01 |
After the first 'attempt' at forming a Counter-Strike team, it looks like we've finally got the start of one going. The catalyst seems to have been Dom (aka Axe) returning to MKC wishing to play Counter-Strike and asking if we had any plans for CS. At that point we didn't. (A few weeks earlier we had held a clan meeting and concluded that we just didn't have the manpower to field a proper team for CS). However, with Dom returning and bringing JinjaNinja and Rob (get your online nick sorted mate!) with him, plus Lithium (aka Starkiller/WorldEater) also returning (and possibly also bringing one other person), the numbers we could field seem to have reached a passable level.
Early plans are to have some internal practices (termed 'Training' on the Schedules page) and see how things develop, how many people wish to continue etc. Then we may arrange a few friendlies (termed 'Excercises' on the Schedules page) to gauge how we are doing. After that, we may have a look at competitive matches (information on competitive matches will be listed under 'Alert Status', also on the Schedules page).
